Letter to Parent
WELCOME
Hi dear Parent,
Here's August's EP issue, hot off the presses. North of the Equator, many of your children are already back in school; south of the Equator, you are heading into Spring Break. My grandchildren in Tulsa Oklahoma are all back in school, too. Thank goodness the schools have a/c there; they are experiencing over 100 degrees of heat these days. Whose brain can learn when the body is getting cooked? Oofta!
Here in the US North we too have had some days over 100 degrees; however, now we are back to enjoying typical Minnesota summer weather - 58 in the morning and 84 during the day. When we have a breeze as we do today, it's simply marvelous and I am so gratefiul to be here.
This is the time of year, when school starts again, that we teachers (when I was teaching preschool and primary) would say to one another: "Work really hard the first six weeks and we've got them trained for the rest of the year."
And that is very true!
Parents should also use this method to get their kids in the habit of school days again. If you work hard for the first six weeks, training, reminding, making sure they are "getting it," then you won't have to yell at them every morning, when they can't find their homework, or school book, or library book, or other shoe, or gym bag, or... Well, you know the routine.
Instead, make a list of what needs to be done:
1. Before bedtime, Homework completed and packed in the school bag and placed at the door they use to leave for school.
2. Also, Clothes for the next day laid out, ready to jump into in the morning. Some kids get a kick out of actually laying them on the floor, like a "body," and they often arrange the "limbs" just so...from funny to grotesque, but who cares? Just so the little darling gets dressed quickly, right? And that includes those pesky SHOES.
3. Does your kiddo ignore your many calls to get up in the morning? Well, there's always the water pistol filled with ice water! That works. When my kids were twelve, I think, each got her/his own alarm clock to set. If s/he did not get up in time to go to school, s/he had to go to school late, without an excuse note from me, and then had to deal with the consequences of being tardy. It only took one time to learn to be responsible for getting up on time.
4. Lunches get packed the night before, right after supper and is done by the child who is designated that week to help clean up. Sandwiches do NOT get squishy. If there is more than one kid in the family, tape on the wrapping is where the name is written so lunches are kept straight.
5. While you're training the child, a new school year is a great time to also make sure to remember to make the bed each morning.
6. All dirty clothes are put into the hamper each night. They really don't have to use a clean towel every night with their bath, do they? After all, they are clean then, right? Save the environment, the electric and gas bill and detergent, too.
7. Before retiring, the child needs to gather all the belongings that have grown legs and ended up all over the house. One sweep and s/he carries the stuff back to where it belongs. Clutter has babies during the night, didn't you know that? ;)
8. And speaking of dirty clothes, my kids did their own laudry after age 12. Yes, it took more detergent and hot water, but I was training children to be responsibile adults, not whiners who expected the world to take care of their needs. They also did their own ironing at about the same time. Son Bill can probably iron better than his wife! ;)
9. And since we're talking about chores and the reason why we train our child to do them, don't ever let them think they are "above" cleaning the toilet and other bathroom fixtures. Or taking out the trash. Or vacuuming the house. Or cutting the grass. I know adults who will die first before they will clean a toilet! What do they do, get married to find a cleaner? ;)
10. No, I do not mean for you to have yourself a personal slave. I DO expect you to do your best to give your child the skills to survive "out there." Unless you want your child to hang around forever, you've got to provide the skills to survive without you.
If you are a Parent with liddle kiddles, you'll have to believe what I'm about to tell you. If you are a Parent of teens, you'll already believe what I'm about to tell you.
Although it's true that a Parent is a Parent forever, with no time off, even for good behavior, it is an absolute fact that a Parent can only stand to be an on-premises Parent for about 25 years, tops. Then you start entertaining the fantasy of putting foot to small of back and easing the child out into the world.
Been there, done that, got the t-shirt, wore it out, got another... And finally, they all left.
In fact, I can finish my August letter with a very good EP story which features my Bill, the last child to leave the nest and yours truly.
Late one night, Bill and I were seated at the kitchen table, reading together and holding hands as we often did, when Last Child came home, very excited about finally having her own place. She would move tomorrow. She gazed around the kitchen and down the long hall.
"What are you two going to do in this big ole house, alone?" she asked.
Now those of you who have been with me for the five years of the EP Ezine already know that my Bill was an absolute gentleman, never using bad language or telling an off-color joke, especially in front of his girl children. Well, without missing a beat, he grinned from ear to ear and said...
"Oh, we're going to run nekked through the house and make love on the kitchen floor and then jump into the freezer downstairs and play "Whip and Chill!"
Last Child nearly fell off her chair and needed no light to reach her bedroom because her blushing cheeks provided all the illumation she needed.
Until Bill passed on, he loved to tell that story and would always end it with one of his sexy winks!
So don't forget why you got married, and don't let the kids take over your entire life, and do enjoy one another.
Most of al, Stay in the Moment.
Love,
Joan
P.s. I'm going to be adding a special invitation at the end of this ezine. It's about NAK, Nutrition and Kids. If you don't want to read it, fine; just stop reading when you get to it. But I would appreciate it if you would read it and consider helping our overweight youngsters to discover, with this game, all they need to know about good nutrition. This game is also a terrific fund raiser. Wait till you read the VIPs who are promoting the product. There's money to be earned while also doing good. That's a Universal Law, to be generously compensated when doing good work.
P.p.s. I REALLY would like to hear your answers, please. I need your input.
What do you think is the worst mistake a parent can make in raising a child?
P.p.p.s. Those EP Parents who won a free copy of David Sprunger's Piano Lessons the Easy Way... I sincerely hope you sent him a thank you note. He's such a good man. :)
Thank you.

WHY IS MARS NOW SO BRIGHT?
Is Mars so bright now because it is so close? Yes and no. The closeness is part of the answer, but in fact Mars has no light of its own, so what you are seeing is reflected sunlight. The light from the Sun goes out past Earth, to Mars, and is then reflected off Mars back to Earth. Those sunbeams do a round trip of about 170 million miles just to reach us! This process works best if the Sun and Mars are exactly opposite each other with the Earth in the middle, and that's what's happening right now.
We are coming up to THE brightest moment. On August 27th Mars will be as close as it's going to get this time around. I hope you got to see my night photographs showing Mars, like a headlight, right next to the Full Moon. Everybody on the planet can see Mars at about 11 p.m. Rising in the Eastern sky. Don't miss it. You won't be around in 70,000 years to see it again - not in this lifetime anyway. :)

SAFE POWER WINDOWS
From: Safe Power Windows
Subject: Is a European child's life worth more than an American child's?
Dear friend,
My three-year-old son Steven would be alive today if he lived in Germany and not our hometown of Ottumwa, Iowa. That's because he was killed by a power window in an American-made car bought here in the United States.
A chilly evening on January 7, 1998: My family lingered at church, chatting with our fellow congregants. My wife Bethany had turned the car on to warm the interior for the children. She then went to find Steven, not realizing that he had somehow climbed into the car on his own and lowered the power window to wave at friends.
His knee inadvertently pressed down the power window switch, activating the window. The powerful force closed on his tiny throat, and soon after he died from his injuries.
My family was utterly devastated. And we are not alone in this tragedy.Power windows have killed and injured at least 100 children. All these deaths occurred in American automobiles.
Ford, GM, and Chrysler can protect our kids and prevent these tragedies by installing safer power windows and window switches. But they choose not to.
It's not as though they lack the technology. American automakers are more than happy to rig such safety features in cars they sell overseas, not becauseof regulations but because European consumers expect these safety protections.
Does that mean Ford, GM, and Chrysler consider European children more precious than American children?
On a dime, Detroit automakers can eliminate the risk of accidental death or injury from power windows and spare families like mine the heart-break of losing a child to such a senseless and preventable tragedy. But they won't do it on their own. They need YOU to make them do it.
It's time we told Detroit to do the right thing:
-Replace "rocker" or "toggle" power window switches that a child can inadvertently activate with safer "pull-up/push down" switches that must be lifted up to raise the window.
-Install an auto-reverse function that stops a window when it detects an obstruction. This is same technology now used in garage doors and elevators.
Please forward this email on to alert friends and families of this danger.Encourage them to add their voice to our public safety campaign by emailing Detroit automakers directly at http://www.kidsandcars.org. KIDS AND CARS is leading this campaign as a nonprofit organization whose mission is to make cars safer for kids. You can also write or phone American automakers directly at the following addresses:

P.S. We have succeeded before. From seat belt laws to air bags to interior
trunk releases, we know that when American consumers speak out, the auto
industry listens. With your help, we can do it again.

Bend over backwards.
Jump on the bandwagon.
Balance the books.
Run around in circles.
Thursday:
Toot my own horn.
Climb the ladder of success.
Pull out the stops.
Add fuel to the fire.

You are invited to use my program without charge!!
Well, as you can see, this is the exercise program I am using to get in shape this summer.
You might want to take it easy at first, and then do it faster as you become more proficient. It may be too
strenuous for some.

Here's a letter from: Andrew Fei E-Mail: andrew@kidzdom.com
Subject: teenager\'s website teaches other children animation.
Comments: Hi, I am a 17 year old high school student from Australia and I have created a series of free, fun and interactive online tutorials which teach children and young people to draw and animate. These fun tutorials can be found on my website, Cartoonster (http://cartoonster.com) Cartoonster tutorials uses many humourous language and colourful and animated examples to illustrate certain principles in animation. They are, therefore, very appealing to young people. If you have time, please check out some of these tutorials: http://cartoonster.com I recently went to London to receive a prestigious international internet award - the Cable and Wireless Childnet Awards. I got 2nd place in the Individual category. I would be really grateful if you could feature Cartoonster.com in your magazine. Thank you very much, Best wishes, Andrew Fei

Dear Andrew, How pleased I was to receive your letter. Thank you for writing to me. I would be glad to write about your fine web site in my next EmpoweredParenting Ezine but I will also have my webmama put a link from my Special Teen Section to your site. What fun! If you'd ever like to collaborate on an animated Children's ebook/story series, let me know. I have been working on a series for children called "I Feel Wonderful" stories that shows children that the power to do anything lies within. Of course, you already know that, don't you? :) Love, Joan Bramsch

Name: caroline Subject: slow-down therapy Comments: You say the author is unknown. It is actually Linus Munday. It\'s a great little book to buy at $4.95 from \'One Caring Place\' (Abbey Press). It would be nice to give the words the proper credit.
**** I had tried to find the author of a piece I reprinted and was unable to; however, EP Parent Caroline supplied the correct information. Thank you.
Hi Joan No problem. Abbey Press produce a wonderful little series of books called 'Elf-Help'. There are a few titles you might like in there. Check them out on www.onecaringplace.com Then click on Elf-Help books. Then select Elf Help again at the prompt. They list all their titles here. They are small paperback books, low cost, and full of wise words with lovely illustrations. The words you quoted are the content of book called 'Slow-Down Therapy'. I am starting a healing basket business called healingbaskets.com and am selling several of these titles. They do have gentle references to God - not sure if that is a problem for your site. Definitely not heavy though. There's an Elf-help for being a good parent, and for dealing with teenagers...all sorts of stuff. Good luck! Caroline

I AM
"I am." is the shortest complete sentence in the English language.
I am - What?
The shortest sentence in the English language is both a statement and a question.
The shortest sentence in the English language is one of, if not THE most important question that you will ever answer.
God told Moses His name is "I am." God knew who he was.
We usually become that which we envision ourselves to be.
It's a short question with a long answer.
It's a short statement with a life long impact.
I am
Yes, you are.
What?
That's up to you.
p.s. Some say that single words such as "So?" or "Go!" are sentences.
That can be validly argued but as for sentences with a subject and
verb, "I am." has the distinction of being the shortest sentence.
I am.
So?
Go!

YOUR WALLET
From - "B. L. Ochman "

http://www.whatsnextonline.com
A friend sent me this advice on how to avoid identity theft. Some of it may not work so well (like a work phone on your checks; what if you change jobs?) but I think the rest is highly helpful.
A corporate attorney sent the following out to the employees in his company:
The next time you order checks have only your initials (instead of first
name) and last name put on them. If someone takes your check book they
will not know if you sign your checks with just your initials or your first
name but your bank will know how you sign your checks.
When you are writing checks to pay on your credit card accounts, DO NOT put
the complete account number on the "For" line. Instead, just put the last four numbers. The credit card company knows the rest of the number and anyone who might be handling your check as it passes through all the check processing channels won't have access to it.
Put your work phone # on your checks instead of your home phone.
If you have a P.O. Box use that instead of your home address.
.
Place the contents of your wallet on a photocopy machine, do both sides of
each license, credit card, etc. You will know what
you had in your wallet and all of the account numbers and phone numbers to
call andc ancel.Keep the photocopy in a safe place. I also carry a
photocopy of my passport when I travel either here or abroad.
We've all heard horror stories about fraud that's committed by stealing a
name, address, Social Insurance number, credit cards, etc.
Unfortunately I, an attorney, have first hand knowledge because my wallet
was stolen last month. Within a week, the thieve(s) ordered an expensive
monthly cell phone package, applied for a VISA credit card, had a credit
line approved to buy a Gateway computer, received a PIN number from DMV to
change my driving record information online, and more.
But here's some critical information to limit the damage in case this
happens to you or someone you know:
We have been told we should cancel our credit card immediately. But the key
is having the toll free numbers and your cardnumbers handy so you know
whom to call. Keep those where you can find them easily.
File a police report immediately in the jurisdiction where it was stolen, this proves to credit
providers you were diligent, and is a firststep toward an investigation (if
there ever is one).
But here's what is perhaps most important: (I never even thought to do
this). Call the three national credit reporting organizations
immediately to place a fraud alert on your name and Social Insurance
number.
I had never heard of doing that until advised by a bank an application for
credit was made over the Internet in my name. The alert means any company
that checks your credit knows your information was stolen and they have to contact you by phone to authorize new credit.
By the time I was advised to do this, almost two weeks after the theft, all the damage had been done. There are records of all the credit checks initiated by the thieves' purchases, none of which I
knew about befor placing the alert. Since then, no additional damage has
been done, and the thieves threw my wallet away this weekend (someone
turned it in). It seems to have stopped them in their tracks.

THANK YOU to dear EP Parent Cindy for this great piece. I love learning new things, don't you? Share them with your children. It's always good for them to know different information; makes them feel so smart and they make great conversation openers for us all. :)
History is Boring
Next time you're washing your hands and the water temperature isn't just how you like it, think about how things used to be. Here are some facts about the 1500s.
Most people got married in June because they took their yearly bath in May and still smelled pretty good by June. However, they were starting to smell, so brides carried a bouquet of flowers to hide the body odor.
Baths consisted of a big tub filled with hot water. The man of the house had the privilege of the nice clean water, then all the other sons and men, then the women and finally the children -- last of all the babies. By then the water was so dirty you could actually lose someone in it. Hence the saying, Don't throw the baby out with the bath water."
Houses had thatched roofs -- thick straw -- piled high, with no wood underneath. It was the only place for animals to get warm, so all the dogs, cats and other small animals (mice, bugs) lived in the roof. When it rained it became slippery and sometimes the animals would slip and fall off the roof -- hence the saying "It's raining cats and dogs."
There was nothing to stop things from falling into the house. This posed a real problem in the bedroom where bugs and other droppings could really mess up your nice clean bed. Hence, a bed with big posts and a sheet hung over the top afforded some protection. That's how canopy beds came into existence.
The floor was dirt. Only the wealthy had something other than dirt, hence the saying "dirt poor." The wealthy had slate floors that would get slippery in the winter when wet, so they spread thresh (straw) on the floor to help keep their footing. As the winter wore on, they kept adding more thresh until when you opened the door it would all start slipping outside. A piece of wood was placed in the entranceway, hence, a "thresh hold."
In those old days, they cooked in the kitchen with a big kettle that always hung over the fire. Every day they lit the fire and added things to the pot. They ate mostly vegetables and did not get much meat. They would eat the stew for dinner, leaving leftovers in the pot to get cold overnight and then start over the next day. Sometimes the stew had food in it that had been there for quite awhile. Hence the rhyme, "peas porridge hot, peas porridge cold, peas porridge in the pot nine days old."
Sometimes they could obtain pork, which made them feel quite special. When visitors came over, they would hang up their bacon to show off. It was a sign of wealth that a man "could bring home the bacon." They would cut off a little to share with guests and would all sit around and "chew the fat."
Those with money had plates made of pewter. Food with a high acid content caused some of the lead to leach onto the food, causing lead poisoning and death. This happened most often with tomatoes, so for the next 400 years or so, tomatoes were considered poisonous.
Most people did not have pewter plates, but had trenchers, a piece of wood with the middle scooped out like a bowl. Often trenchers were made from stale bread which was so old and hard that they could be used for quite some time. Trenchers were never washed and a lot of times worms and mold got into the wood and old bread. After eating off wormy, moldy trenchers, one would get "trench mouth.."
Bread was divided according to status. Workers got the burnt bottom of the loaf, the family got the middle, and guests got the top, or "upper crust."
Lead cups were used to drink ale or whiskey. The combination would sometimes knock them out for a couple of days. Someone walking along the road would take them for dead and prepare them for burial. They were laid out on the kitchen table for a couple of days and the family would gather around and eat and drink and wait and see if they would wake up. Hence the custom of holding a "wake."
England is old and small and the local folks started running out of places to bury people. So they would dig up coffins and would take the bones to a bone-house" and reuse the grave. When reopening these coffins, 1 out of 25 coffins were found to have scratch marks on the inside and they realized they had been burying people alive.
So they thought they would tie a string on the wrist of the corpse, lead it through the coffin and up through the ground and tie it to a bell. Someone would have to sit out in the graveyard all night (the "graveyard shift") to listen for the bell; thus, someone could be "saved by the bell" or was considered a "dead ringer." And that's the truth. . .
(who ever said that History was boring)?

Leaving the City of Regret
I had not really planned on taking a trip this time of year, and yet I found myself packing rather hurriedly. This trip was going to be unpleasant, and I knew in advance that no real good would come of it. I'm talking about my annual "Guilt Trip."
I got tickets to fly there on Wish I Had airlines. It was an extremely short flight. I got my baggage, which I could not check. I chose to carry it myself all the way. It was weighted down with a thousand memories of what might have been. No one greeted me as I entered the terminal to the Regret City International Airport.
I say international because people from all over the world come to this dismal town. As I checked into the Last Resort Hotel, I noticed that they would be hosting the year's most important event, the Annual Pity Party. I wasn't going to miss that great social occasion. Many of the town's leading citizens would be there.
First, there would be the Done family, you know, Should Have, Would Have and Could Have.
Then came the I Had family. You probably know ol' Wish and his clan.
Of course, the Opportunities would be present, Missed and Lost.
The biggest family would be the Yesterday's. There are far too many of them to count, but each one would have a very sad story to share.
Then Shattered Dreams would surely make an appearance.
And It's Their Fault would regale us with stories (excuses) about how things had failed in his life, and each story would be loudly applauded by Don't Blame Me and I Couldn't Help It.
Well, to make a long story short, I went to this depressing party knowing that there would be no real benefit in doing so. And, as usual, I became very depressed. But as I thought about all of the stories of failures brought back from the past, it occurred to me that all of this trip and subsequent "pity party" could be cancelled by ME!
I started to truly realize that I did not have to be there. I didn't have to be depressed. One thing kept going through my mind, I CAN'T CHANGE YESTERDAY, BUT I DO HAVE THE POWER TO MAKE TODAY A WONDERFUL DAY. I can be happy, joyous, fulfilled, encouraged, as well as encouraging. Knowing this, I left the City of Regret immediately and left no forwarding address. Am I sorry for mistakes I've made in the past? YES! But there is no physical way to undo them.
So, if you're planning a trip back to the City of Regret, please cancel all your reservations now. Instead, take a trip to a place called, Starting Again. I liked it so much that I have now taken up permanent residence there. My neighbors, the I Forgive Myselfs and the New Starts are so very helpful. By the way, you don't have to carry around heavy baggage because the load is lifted from your shoulders upon arrival.
God bless you in finding this great town. If you can find it, it's in your own heart. Please look me up. I live on I Can Do It street.

Joan
Get in on the Ground Floor!!!
PROBLEM: 6 million American children are obese! 120 million adults over age 20 are overweight and 40 million are obese.
The Surgeon General reports 300,000 Americans die prematurely every year from preventable diseases related to obesity. That is 822 deaths per day, compared to 292 per day during WWII and 13 times more per day than the 63 who die from AIDS.
Nutrition has become an international concern. Everyone wants to eat healthier. Kids are getting a lot of attention because they are getting fatter and sicker with "adult" diseases, such as Type II diabetes and hypertension, every year.
********* Research indicates that parents may outlive their obese children!!! not to mention that better nutrition improves grades by 15% and significantly reduces student violence.
SOLUTION: Majority Leader Bill Frist, Gwen Foster, Philadelphia's Health and Fitness Czar, California Congresswoman Mary Bono and the Detroit school system have endorsed a healthy and fun solution as an example of what the private sector is doing to combat the epidemic of obesity and kids.
The Golden Youth Awards in Beverly Hills recently selected this exciting solution to receive the 2003 Outstanding Achievement Award in the Fight against Obesity with Kids. The excitement comes in the form of an interactive, one-of-a-kind 3-D animated CD-ROM game from Nutrition and Kids in Newport Beach, CA, that educates families and kids ages 6 to 16 on how to improve their meal selections and get proper "body fuel" out of the foods they consume

Hello: The following is a briefoverview and synopsis of what Nutrition and Kids, International is all about. I trust you will find this message informative and I welcome any comments you might have.
We have grown Nutrition and Kids from its infancy, starting at a time when the concept of healthy eating was in its beginning stages. Also, Nutrition and Kids was born at a time when the "epidemic" of obesity and diabetes with kids was just gaining momentum.
The current CD-ROM game we developed is making great inroads. and we are certainly on the right track. The soil has never been more fertile than itis at this current time setting the stage for what we are about to achieve.
What is Nutrition and Kids? Nutrition and Kids (NAK) is a California corporation based in Newport Beach, CA. We have been in existence for three years and have developed and are marketing a"3-D" animated CD-ROM game for kids and families to help educate and acclimate everyone towards healthy eating and making wiser food choices.
Through our colorful characters (Banana Dana, Bear, Side-Kick Leaf, TheProfessor, etc.) we take players on a journey through animated sequences tointroduce them to the importance of eating fruits and vegetables, eating organic when possible, drinking lots of water, eating a sound breakfast, and much, much more.
Our characters also wear "pedometers" to align with national programs such as "10,000 steps a day" promoting physical fitness (A SAMPLE of the game can be viewed at Http://www.nutritionandkids.net/10617/index.shtml by clicking on SAMPLE GAME).
Who is our target market and how is it marketed? Obesity is affecting millions of people everywhere. Not a day (or hour) goes by where you do not hear, read, and/or see something in the media about this epidemic. However, the fact that it is today devastating this generation of children, is in my opinion, the catalyst that is getting everyone's attention.
Children as young as 5 and 6 years old are developing "Type II Diabetes" (usually reserved for people 50 yr..of age and older). It is now predicted that this generation of kids will not live as long as their parents for the first time ever!
NAK targets kids but includes the entire family. Every check written to order the game "always" comes from a concerned parent, grandparent, teacher, or doctor. NAK is currently marketed many different ways. One way is through an ever growing army of highly motivated representatives. We give "financial incentives" to help people spread the word.
Every representative is given their "own" website and merchant account to help spread the word and process orders. To stay active they must consistently order games every month. NAK also offers "FREE" websites to any school, foundation, organization, church, etc. that wishes to raise money for their cause using our game. Our educational CD-ROM game is the timely alternative to cookie dough, candy, and cakes used too often in fund-raising across the country.
At a time when schools are choosing to vote out soda machines in school, our CD-ROM game is fast becoming the product of choice. Fund-raising is of course a common practice that happens everyday around the world to the tune of thousands a day.
ALL WE DO is supply them with a free website and an alternative to the typical candy, etc. We do all the fulfillment and give back $5 to the organization per every CD sold. As we become mainstream around the country, thousands of fund-raisers multiplied by hundreds and thousand of CD's sold can not only raise a lot of money but create a staggering amount of income for Nutrition andKids.
Other ways of selling our game is through the various school districts. We currently have sold thousands of dollars of CD's through this method. Major corporations will soon find that NAK is the "perfect" PR machine and will rally behind us to assist in spreading the word through our games while benefiting from the massive "good will" created.
We are currently talking with and have been contacted by such huge entities such as Nike, Subway Inc., Henry Ford Center, The National Producers Assoc.and more. Every day that we grow larger, the closer we come to making some major alliances. This has the potential to be transformed into millions of dollars for all involved with Nutrition and KidsEndorsements and Support:
I personally have been invited to fly to one of the largest cities in the country by the Mayor of Philadelphia's Health Czar, Gwen Foster. I had the privilege of showing our game on the"big screen" at City Hall in front of her major constituents.
Congresswoman Mary Bono supports us with a NAK banner on her National Website, KidsZone.
Senate Majority Leader, Bill Frist, included Nutrition and Kids in his recent Health Initiative in Washington as an example of what the private sector is doing to combat this epidemic of obesity and kids.
We have most recently been endorsed by the "Golden Youth Awards" from Beverly Hills, CA. They will be honoring NAK in their upcoming gala in LA with a long list of celebrities (last December they honored Jermaine Jackson for his work with aids in Africa).
Nutrition and Kids has aligned ourselves with "Officer Byrd" and theStranger Danger Safety Program (Office Byrd has been seen over the years on the "Tonight Show," "Saturday Night Live," and in May "Pet Star" from Animal Planet and has received as many as 1 million letters from kids).
We present to schools and hav plans to take our show "on the road" to malls and major events throughout the country. Nutrition and Kids is also creating a national "NAK FAN CLUB" to empower and recognize kids across the country for their contributions in their area to the purpose of healthy eating lifestyles.
Sports Club Magazine, INC. will be featuring our team leaders consistently in their magazine as part of the recognition.
NAK is also a "media-magnet." Using our game, we consistently get on TV, the Radio, and written about in newspapers and magazines across the country (We currently are being featured in"Coast Magazine" in S. CA and featured world-wide in "The Packer", going to members of the produce growers everywhere. They love us because of our aggressive support of fruits and vegetables).
We have launched our product and company at a time when the awareness of the epidemic of obesity and kids has never been greater, when governments, organizations, and the media at large are supporting us. And, when legislation is coming out to support and pave the way for future success with Nutrition and Kids.
Our program is also the perfect"lead-generator" for companies and people who have a particular product of their own that they are marketing. Our NAK CD-ROM game can get them "in the door" at schools and organizations and in front of groups that they may not otherwise ever have a chance to talk with. Once they have created that audience and expanded their circle of influence using our business module, then they are poised to "fill the need" with their own product(s).
In short, Nutrition and Kids is the"only game in town".
